LETTER TO NEXT YEARS PHOTO STUDENTS

Categories: Assignments

Dear new photography students,

Photography has to be the most fun class you will ever take. All you need to pass this class is creativity and an idea behind your photography. I love photography, it’s probably my favorite class this year. A lot of the assignments are easy to do because some will be read and writes on photography concepts and specific tools used. The workload isn’t much and we only have two big projects which would be our portfolios which is all our best work together.  But really all you need is an idea that goes with the photo assignment, you go shoot it and then you edit it. It’s very simple. One thing is that editing can be difficult due to your editing preference. I feel like the only thing i dislike about this class is editing because ITS SO DIFFICULT TO MAKE AN IMAGE PERFECT! Even better yet if your photo can be posted on the blog and even better it can be posted on the jhhsphotography account which you should totally follow! I think the best advice i can give you is just be yourself and let your mind roam with ideas! It’s most definitely a creative outlet so its good to include your ideas into your assignments too.

MOST IMPORTANT RULE! DO NOT TALK NOR BE ON YOUR PHONE WHEN MRS. CAUCHON IS TALKING.

From,

Isabella H.

SURREALISTIC COLLAGE

I would say the concept and idea of my surrealistic collage is a fever dream about religious angels and how you can never escape your religion because the angels with get you. The idea of the hands is how you can never betray your beliefs or there are bad consequences.

I like the bugs. Also, the idea of the size going up and down is very interesting to the eye. The top bugs are the largest that goes down to the smallest then it goes up a few in size for the bottom bug. The sense of the wave of size is nice to look at.

WHITE BALANCE READ AND WRITE

White balance in photography, explaining its role in neutralizing color casts to ensure accurate and natural-looking colors. It covers the impact of different light sources on color temperature, measured in Kelvins, and the distinction between warm and cool lighting. It outlines two main approaches to adjusting white balance: in-camera presets (such as daylight, cloudy, or tungsten) and post-processing adjustments using software like Lightroom. It also discusses how white balance can be used creatively to enhance mood by deliberately warming or cooling an image. Ultimately, mastering white balance allows photographers to achieve both true-to-life colors and artistic effects.

  • Sunny, which works for mid-morning and mid-afternoon sun
  • Shade, which works for scenarios with heavy shade (e.g., portraits under a tree)
  • Cloudy, which works for outdoor scenes featuring overcast lighting
  • Flash, which works for scenes lit by standard off-camera speedlights and pop-up flashes
  • Incandescent, which works for indoor scenes lit by standard warm bulbs
  • Fluorescent, which works for indoor scenes lit by fluorescent bulbs

  6. Only the perfume, but a mist would be wanted to

All of these advertisements are eye catching, unique, and greatly relates to what they are advertising. They are also all straight to the point and includes something about their product.
